Get Ready: No such thing as Luck!

Life often becomes a frustration if you are unable to attain what you set out to achieve. Say, get into a University of your dream and graduate with honours, get employed by a blue-chip firm with a 6-digit monthly pay, or get married to the man/woman of your dreams and live happily ever after… the list is endless. All the above come under goal setting. I believe, you must have read and heard so much about setting goals in life with the familiar slogan of “set goals and score goals in life!”  The whole world stands aside for anyone that knows where he is going. But, with the rave on goal setting, how many actually set goals and ‘score goals’? Is there anything as being lucky in Life?

You need to erase from your mind the myth of a success/money windfall or being ‘lucky’ in life. There is no such thing as luck!

The classic definition of Luck is blind chance, a total accident that happens to you for no reason. According Fred Siegel, author of ‘The Richest Man in Babylon for Today’, he defined luck in his book as “preparation meeting opportunity.” This definition connotes that you need to prepare yourself for success in life, irrespective of your chosen area of interest, and a willingness to go looking for opportunities that will bring you more luck in life.

Any opportunity you find may be based on blind chance but, there is always an input of preparation! By preparation, I mean getting ready, taking charge of your life, being at the right place at the right time, reading the right materials, having the right mindset for success, making a conscious effort to be successful… I can continue.

Stop and ask yourself – Am I really ready to live the life of my dream? Am I ready to pay the price for the successful life I desire, irrespective of where and what it is?

Before now, my thinking was once like this, that some are luckier than others but I know better now. Success comes in life to the best prepared!
